We need your help to push for answers
Thank you to everyone reading this page. Certain questions have been asked and we are answering them on the FAQ page.
Would a self-governing body hold itself accountable?
This movement sprung up from our observation that the answer to the above is a concerning no. Since the start of the semester we brought up non-compliances of the by-laws and the lack of information in the VCSA. We¹ even offered to help with the administrations and correct all the issues before we got to accreditation.
We felt dismissed by the association that is meant to represent us. We do not want to continue getting dismissed but also equally as important, we do not want anyone else to have to struggle with bringing up something they might think should be questioned!
Please consider filling out the petition form (your name will not be shared with the VCSA). Other people are calling this movement as one side versus the other but this is not the goal. Anyone who understands that things may not always be as they seem, or believes important decisions must be brought in front of all students to vote on, can help us by filling the petition form.
Also keep in mind that it is important to distinguish the VCSA (a company who's main purpose is to facilitate what Vanier students want to do) and the VCSA Executives (who are supposed to operates the wishes and decisions of the student body in accordance to the VCSA by-laws).
Our goal is to establish a system where current and future VCSA executives always remain align with the obligations and responsibilities entrusted to them by the students.
However, without a reform and external pressure for oversight and compliance, the practical answer to the question above is that it is not possible.
Is this only about accreditation?
Far from it! We are only focused about accreditation right now because it's the topic the VCSA is currently promoting. The vote for accreditation is a very big one and has lasting effects for future generations, so we want everyone to be aware about what they're voting for.
Now that the accreditation voting period has finished², it's important to ensure that what students vote for is actually applied to defend their opinions and interests. Help us establish real checks and balances for a strong, accountable, and truly representative student association.
On this page we haven't even talked about the by-laws concerns that raised the questions in the first place when students slowly realized so much more happens behind the scenes. By filling the petition form you also signal to us you are one more person who wants to see them.

Don't just take our word for it. We suggest you to fact check our info. Everyone makes mistakes, but hiding them is different.
