We need your help to push for answers
Q: Wait, I am giving money to the VCSA?
Is it very shocking that many students are not aware that they pay 35$ every semester to the VCSA! With thousands of students registered at Vanier, this totals to around half a million dollars every year. If you want to know where that money goes help us make a #TransparentVCSA possible.
Q: Why should I care?
Because the VCSA affects your money and your college environment.
Because the rights given to students from VCSA effectively only exist when the by-laws are being followed.
Without checks and balances and transparency, the is no guarantee that the trust you place in your student association is respected.
There many ways to help with our movement, yet the simplest is to fill the petition form. You aren't required to attend any meetings if you sign it. In the future you will have the opportunity to be further involved if you want.
Q: Isn't this just petty student drama?
No, this is about establishing basic accountability for the future. Only with a proper reform can we ensure that the VCSA operates on a solid foundation and its executives can be trusted.
It's not just about individuals. If any VCSA council can ignore its own by-laws and procedures without any formal and public reason (and justifying it through "important goals" informally), that sets a dangerous precedent. "Would the government hold themselves accountable?" is the question we want you to think about. We need oversight from the students and/or the college.
A structural reform is needed to fix systematic issues. This involves public debate and the rewrite of the rules. Help make your accreditation vote ensure a positive impact on the future of the VCSA.
Q: Is my name safe if I sign?
We are only sharing the total number of supporters and the aggregated data from the extra questions. If Vanier College needs to validate the integrity of the form, that may lead to certain Vanier staff to see the names. We will coordinate a process that is best for our supporters.
We do not want to share your name with the VCSA Executive Council or make it public without your consent, our aim is to make you conformable to stand up united against the lack of transparency and the violations that occurs in the VCSA.
Q: Why should I sign the petition form if I think the VCSA is doing a good job?
Even if you believe the VCSA is faultless, signing the form protects YOUR RIGHT to have questions addressed publicly and debated if needed. If you believe that nothing is wrong, we want you to have the opportunity to present said belief. We won't just dismiss you because your opinion doesn't align with our organizers.

Q: What should I vote for on Omnivox?
Our goal is NOT to tell you what to do but to make sure you actually know what you're voting for. If someone tells you how to cast your vote, you should question it.
Did you know? Even if the vote doesn't pass this time, students can always try again for accreditation later. The thought that "if you vote no, you are voting for the destruction of the vcsa" is misleading! The existence of the VCSA depends on the will of Vanier (the administration) and its students regardless of accreditation.
Q: I already voted on Omnivox, can I still help?
Yes! We are not trying to dictate whether you should vote or not. That's is your decision. Yet, your vote for an accredited student association would only be useful if said association isn't able to get away with procedural violations.
Whether you vote or not, and regardless of what you vote for: if you believe in transparency and accountability help us by filling the petition form.
